Pet food
Everyday nutrition for dogs and cats — built around clear categories, dependable quality and accurate product information.
Introduction
Feeding is the part of pet care that never takes a day off.
Because it is so routine, pet food has to be consistent. A household chooses a food and then buys it again and again; a retailer commits shelf space on the same basis. Our approach to this category reflects that: fewer, better-considered options, described accurately.
Northlink assesses pet food on quality of ingredients and production standards, on packaging and formats that suit real households, and on whether the product is something we would recommend without qualification.
The categories we work in
Broad categories, described at the level of the category rather than the individual product.
Dog nutrition
Everyday food for dogs across different life stages and sizes, in the dry and wet formats households use most. The emphasis is on daily feeding that is easy to buy, store and serve consistently.
Cat nutrition
Food for cats in dry and wet formats, with attention to portioning and packaging — the practical details that make daily feeding straightforward for owners.
Treats
Treats for training, rewards and time spent together. A small category with a large role in the relationship between a pet and its owner.
Everyday nutrition
The dependable core of the range: the food that goes into the bowl every morning and evening, chosen so it can be repeated without hesitation.
Nutrition & wellness categories
Product categories associated with general daily care and condition. Any product-level claim will be based on the documentation of the product concerned — we do not publish nutritional or medical claims we cannot support.
Why quality matters here
A pet cannot read a label or change its mind about dinner. The responsibility for that decision sits entirely with the owner — and with everyone in the chain before them.
That is the reason we treat pet food as a category to be careful with rather than a category to fill. It is also why we would rather say "not yet" about a product than publish something we have not looked at closely.
